Carlisle Varsity XC Girls Place 4th at Ballard Invitational

The varsity girls cross country team ran to a fourth-place finish at the Ballard Invite with a total of 115 points. They finished just seven points shy of third in a very talented field of 10 teams. No. 1 ranked Ballard and fellow Raccoon River Conference competitor, won the meet with 39 points, while No. 2 ranked Dallas Center-Grimes placed second with 51 points. North Polk, new to the Raccoon River Conference this fall, placed third with 108 points. Carlisle had two runners finish among the top ten. Junior Ainsley Erzen won the event with a new school-record time of 18:28, while sophomore sister Tessa Erzen placed sixth with a time of 20:51. A. Erzen, Riley Sievers and Laura Downs all improved their times from last year on this same course.

The JV squad placed 10th of 14 teams at the September 14th Ballard meet with 286 points. The meet champion was Solon with 27 points and the runner-up was Dallas Center-Grimes with 35 points. Freshman Bri White led the JV squad, touring the course in a time of 24:35 and placing 26th. Sophomore Hannah McGraw improved her race time from last year at this course by an impressive five minutes.
