Morgan Singleton has been named head varsity girls' cross country coach for Carlisle Community Schools, pending board approval. Singleton served as assistant cross country coach for the Wildcats for the past three seasons and is currently a third grade teacher at Emerson Elementary in Indianola. "I recognize that this will be my first head-coaching experience," said Singleton, "but I feel that my existing rapport with Carlisle student-athletes and support system of coaches around me will provide a smooth transition for this team and myself."
Singleton is a 2017 Simpson College graduate. While obtaining her undergraduate degree in elementary education, she competed in cross country and track for the Storm. She grew up in Webster City, Iowa, and graduated from Webster City High School in 2013. The former Lynx prep earned four varsity cross country letters, all-conference and all-district honors and qualified for state in 2010. She also set the school record in the 4K race at 15:34. Prior to her current teaching position in Indianola, Singleton taught for a year at Hartford Elementary in the Carlisle School District.
"We are excited Morgan will be our next girls' cross country coach," said Carlisle Activities Director Darin Schreck. "Coach Mo brings a passion for working with kids that will help us continue in the right direction. She has already had a positive impact on our student-athletes and brings such positive energy to the program. She is a great fit for the things we are striving to accomplish at Carlisle High School."
