Cheer Team Volunteers on Opening FB Weekend

The cheerleaders kicked the 2017-18 season off with a trip to Ballard to support the football team in Ballard on opening night, Aug. 25.  The cheer squad did an amazing job stunting and cheering on the Wildcats to our first win of the season!

Saturday morning all 36 members of th esquad met at the school at 6:30 am to go out and do their annual volunteer work.  The team started the morning off at the Iowa Heart Foundation 10th annual Run for your Life event at Water Works Park.  The squad performed at 7:30 am and then cheered on the runners/walkers throughout the morning as they raised money for AED Defibrillators.  This was Carlisle's fourth appearance at the event.

The team then headed to the downtown farmers market were they collected food for the  MEALS FROM THE MARKET. The Meals From the Market program provides thousands of pounds of fresh food to the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) emergency pantries where it is distributed throughout Greater Des Moines.  This was the third year the cheerleaders volunteered.

Between events the squad was able to go to breakfast as a team and they were so impressive, said their head coach Jen Nordhagen. "I was a little worried taking 36 teenagers to one restaurant, but they were well behaved, polite and actually quiet," she said. "I would also like to add that we had a fabulous bus driver, Debra!  She stayed in good spirits with all the singing/cheering she had to endure, spending almost seven hours with all of us, so thank you!"

The team will be  on the sidelines at home this Friday night when the Wildcats welcome Gilbert to town for the home opener.
