The No. 1 ranked Wildcats led a loaded field at the Ballard XC Invitational with seven of the top 13 ranked 3A teams, including No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, No. 7 and No. 8. The Cats claimed the team title and were paced by senior Kolby Fritz, who finished fifth and Kyle Miller, who finished sixth. Also medaling for the varsity team were Brandon Kesner in 11th and Kaden Sadler in 19th. Rounding out the rest of the varsity were Ethan Schlichte in 23rd, Hunter Snyder in 29th and Tristen Kessler in 31st.
The JV boys also ran a great race, finishing second out of 23 teams. The squad was led by Nate Norton, who was a fraction of a second away from taking the individual title in a career best 18:55. Also in the top-25 for the JV were Logan Howard (5th), Brayden Kessler (11th), Mason Ramsey (15th), Keith Christenson (17th), Raymond Birech (24th), and Kaden Baxter (25th).
The varsity team races this Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Heartland Classic in Pella, with the JV team competing at ADM on Monday, Sept. 23rd.
